Practices for Performances

There will be practice for the up coming performances. If you signed your child up for them please note these dates!

October 1, 2009: we will be in the gym right after school. Please pick up your child in the gym at 3:15

October 5, 2009: we will be going to Bridgestone to practice on the stage. Please pick up your child at Covenant Academy at 4:00pm. This practice is only for the children that will be performing at Bridgestone.

We have a couple events coming up that we would like you to put on your calendar!!!

9-17-09: Fair Field Trip

We will be heading to the Warren County Fair!!! We will line up cars at 9am, leave school at 9:30 and return after lunch.
Lunch will be provided for the students at the Covenant Academy Food Booth
We need parent drivers!!! Please let Ms. Eva know if you can help out!
EARLY SIGN-OUTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED FROM THE FAIR! YOU MUST RETURN TO SCHOOL TO SIGN YOUR CHILD OUT EARLY.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO SEND A BOOSTER IF YOUR CHILD REQUIRES ONE.
Your child should wear WHITE COVENANT ACADEMY SHIRT, khaki bottoms, socks, & tennis shoes. ANY CHILD NOT IN COVENANT ACADEMY FIELD TRIP UNIFORM WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND.
You can send $1.00 with your child for ICE CREAM!

THANKSGIVING DINNER

On Thursday our school was able to have Thanksgiving dinner for all of the childrens families. We all have so much to be THANKFUL for. Thanks to all of the staff that made our dinner possible.

Each child in school made a leaf and told something they were blessed with. If you have not yet ,go by and read what these children wrote.

Emma ate at a earlier time with her little sister so I was unable to get a picture with her and her family in it.

Harvest Party-"Jesus Is My Shining Light"

THANK YOU goes out to Dalton and her mother Mrs. Karen for hosting our Harvest Party. Our theme for the day was "Jesus is my shining light". Mrs. Karen prepared some wonderful tasting food, planned a very fun game with prizes for the whole class, had a very cute project of decorating candy pales(something we can always keep), and had a wonderful book for Mrs. Christie to read. Again, THANK YOU for all of your hard work. She even decorated some wonderful tasting sugar cookies(looked professional to me) and also made each kid a carmel apple to take home.

Singing for Child Advocacy Center

Covenant Academy Choir was honored when they were asked to sing for the Child Advocacy Center. The Governor's wife was present and was so impressed with our kids. Everyone is so PROUD of their performance.

Every year we participate in see you at the pole with other schools around the nation. Covenant Academy is so grateful for being able to have teachers teach about God and talk about GOD ANYTIME. We pray EVERYDAY and we are so THANKFUL.

Field Trip to the Fair

What a fun fair day second grade had. Thanks to Mrs. Karen, Mr. Chris and Mr. Shane for accompanying us on the field trip. It was AWESOME to have Chapel in the Fair Village, in the old school. Thanks also to EVERYONE at the Covenant Academy food booth who served us lunch and also to ALL the volunteers who helped in the booth to raise money for our school!

New Student

We have a new student in 2nd grade! We are so PROUD to have Lance join our class. Last week in chapel Lance received our "Caught being good". Lance received the award because he has brightened our class. This week in chapel Jaren received a caught being good from Mrs. Marsha for fixing ice water for the little kids. Megan also received an award for her thoughtfulness of cleaning the bathroom floor each day. WAY TO GO!

Bible Bowl

Congratulations to the 2nd grade class on their performance Tuesday night at the Bible Bowl! They have learned so much during Bible class this year. It was a such blessing to hear them sing. I am reminded every day how blessed we are to be able to be a part of the Covenant Academy family! Andrew was sick and not able to attend the program. Thanks to everyone for your prayers. He is now healthy and glad to be back at school!

Teacher Appreciation Day

Tuesday, May 6 is National Teacher Appreciation Day! If you wish, please send $2 to assist the PAT in purchasing a small token of appreciation for our teachers. Please put the money in an envelope with "PAT" written on it and deposit it in the check deposit box outside of Mrs. Earline's office.

Book Drive

There will be a BOOK DRIVE beginning on May 1. Please bring books suitable for grades K-up. We are desperately in need of books for the older elementary and middle school grades. Used books are great. Please make sure that the books are appropriate for a Christian school library. There will be a large box in the school in which to deposit the books.

The PAT has voted to purchase a climbing tunnel for the playground. If you have any ideas for improving our playground (that don't require money!), please send your suggestions to your child's teacher.

The PAT also voted to purchase 5 computers for our library. With the one we have already purchased and the two that are being donated, we will have a computer lab with 8 computers in our library!

Christmas in the Park

We had a wonderful time performing on Tuesday night at Christmas in the Park. There was a huge crowd! Kindergarten and 1st grade performed first. We are so proud of all of our young friends!

Then after a couple of other groups, we sang with the 3rd and 4th grades. Thank you to everyone who came and cheered us on. Also, thank you to Junior Auxiliary for inviting us to participate. Here are a couple of pictures of us...

We had lots of fun working on the float on Friday night and being in the parade on Saturday. Thanks to all of our parents for helping us with our float. We send a great big thanks to Mrs. Jodi McAbee for all of her hard work making this year's parade entry a success!

Operation Christmas Child shoe box items are due tomorrow (Thursday).

Thanksgiving Lunch will be on Friday, November 16. Your child may leave with you after lunch.

There will be no school Wednesday, November 21-Friday, November 23.

Princess and the Pea

We had a wonderful field trip on Friday. It was very exciting to see Gracie's older brother, Griffin, as the Prince in "Princess and the Pea" at the Arts Center in Woodbury. The play was

Family Talent Night!

The evening started with the trophies being presented to the winners of the Spelling Bee which was held during the spring. Congratulations to Kelsey, David, and Caroline!

Lots of 2nd Graders participated in the Talent Show. We are so proud of all of you. I only have a few pictures. If you have any that you would like posted, email them to me and I will add them to this blog.

The last presentation of the evening was the trophies for the Summer Reading Program. Congratulations to all of the wonderful readers in 2nd grade!

FIELD TRIP ON THURSDAY...We will be going to the fair August 13th for fun and food. Please make sure you send back permission notes. We also need drivers if you are available!

FAIR DAY IS FRIDAY...Remember there will be NO SCHOOL on Friday. Students from each class will be participating in various races beginining at 9:00am. Come on out and cheer them on! If you are one of the participants, remember to wear a CA t-shirt and be there no later than 8:45am.

See you at the Pole isn't groups, grades, clothes or churches. It's about praying. It's about all of us coming together and laying aside all the labels for one day simply to call out to God, just as Jesus did in John 17 and say, "Lord may we be one in you--whether jocks, preps, geeks, Pentacostals, Baptists, Catholics, one-year-olds or 4th graders--may the world believe that You are real and have sent us to touch others through You, regardless of the dividing lines drawn by a broken world!"

So are you in? Are you ready for whatever group you're in to join us in the circle?

Join your generation of faith on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 at 8:00am, Gather in the front parking lot, Unite in the name of the One Who died to save you, and Pray for our school, friends, and families.
COME TOGETHER, just as Jesus prayed we would.

Fair Booth Work Day: Saturday, September 1 from 9:00am-12:00pm; help clean & prep booth
Warren County A&L Fair: September 8-15 (sign up sheets by Mrs. Earline's office)
P.A.T. (Parent Advisory Team) Organizational Meeting: date and time TBA; Earn one parent hour for this meeting. This is the ONLY P.A.T. meeting that counts toward parent hours.
Little Cesar Pizza Sales Fundraiser: date TBA; Earn parent hour (1) for selling more than 3 kits. Opportunity to earn parent hours by helping unload and separate orders when they arrive.
Christmas Float: P.A.T. organized; dates TBA; Earn parent hours for work on Christmas float.
Spring Fling: P.A.T. organized; Earn parent hours for baking homemade desserts (30 min. max.), setup for Spring Fling, running games, and cleanup.
Covenant Academy Annual Golf Tournament: April or May; Earn parent hours for setup night before, registration tables, hole watchers, etc.
Class party planner: Earn up to 1 hour for planning your child's classroom party (i.e. Halloween, Christmas, Valentines, and Easter). You DO NOT get parent hours for coming and enjoying party with your child. You MUST be the planner to receive hours. Your child's birthday party DOES NOT count toward parent hours.

There may be other opportunities to earn parent hours that are not listed, but thought it would be beneficial to see some of our main events. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me regarding status of parent hours through your child's teacher.
